Meeting was called to order at 6:00p by president Lonnie Brigham
Group recited the pledge of allegiance and read the mission statement of AALAC
Special Presentations
Sara Stinski, executive director of the Janesville Boys and Girls Club spoke briefly about the club, upcoming events, special projects. The Boys and Girls Club is looking for mentors for their kids there. Anyone is welcomed to be a mentor, but they are looking to reach out to the Mexican and Latino community in the city. They are also looking to get more African Americans involved with mentoring at the boys and girl club.
Two officers did a presentation about the use of excessive force. They talked about knowing when it is appropriate for the use of excessive force, and what happens should someone should be killed by excessive force. They also discussed the training behind using excessive force that officers typically go through before leaving training.
Announcements
Michael Bell announced that he was starting a mentor prison ministry at his church and opened the opportunity for members to join him.
Carrie Harrell-Payton announced that there would be a meeting with Pastor Danny Evans, pastor of House of God Church in Janesville in preparation for the next town hall meeting. More details to come. Meeting will be on July 17th.
Next Janesville Police Block Party will be July 17th
National Night Out plans will be announced
Lexi announced that she has finished the Website and will be sending out the link for everyone.
